Because if you are going to do it, you have to do it right
We all know that dermatologists and dermatologists say that one should not pop. But how many of us really follow that advice? Most of us have a laid back attitude when it comes to painting a picture about ourselves. If you are honest with yourself, it is possible that there have been more than one case where you have a pimple at home. But if we are going to do it, we need to know how to get rid of pimples in the right way.
There are a few things you need to know before pinching your fingers over this defect. That’s why we sat together Dr. Sandra Leealso known as the famous Dr Pimple Popper, to learn exactly how to get pimples at home, safely.
Instagram, her YouTube channel and TikTok are a real feast with all sorts of spots – from black spots and white spots to some really horrible cysts. There is really no one better equipped to teach us how to get pimples.
And when you’re done here, make sure you read Dr Pimple Popper’s mask to prevent imperfections from using the mask.
What is the golden rule for how to get pimples at home?
“Let me start by saying that I do not recommend popping your own pimples. However, I know most of you will not follow this recommendation. So I insist instead, “Know when to POP and know when to STOP.” If you really MUST, you should not pop anything on your face unless it has reached a white / yellow “head”. If the pimple has a head, at that point it is the easiest to remove, with the least risk of scarring, because the lump is very superficial on the surface of the skin.
How to Pimple a Pimple in 6 Steps by Dr Pimple Popper
1. Sterilize the area and make sure you have clean tools, hands and environment.
2. You will want to make sure you wash your face beforehand with warm water or better yet take a steam shower to really open the pores.
3. Use your fingers or a comedian extractor, as I usually use in my videos, to apply pressure to the skin immediately surrounding the white spot, to push the contents out. If you use your fingers, increase the adhesion by wrapping clean paper around the fingers by applying pressure.
4. A white head should come out very easily if it is ready, but if the pimple does not burst, there is definitely time to give it up because pressing it and pushing and pushing constantly will only irritate your skin causing only increased swelling, redness and pain and certainly increase the risk of local infection and scarring.
5. To conclude, I would recommend applying a topical corticosteroid and / or a topical acne spot treatment that most likely contains benzoyl peroxide or an antibiotic, cool compresses if you want or just try to leave the area alone.
6. Visit a dermatologist or skin care professional to help you remove them. In brief, Learn when to POP and know when to stop!
What is there at one point? And why does gunk occur?
Pus is made up of skin cells, bacteria and inflammatory cells that are sent there by your immune system to fight this localized bacterial infection on the skin.
“It is also a protein-rich liquid called liquor puris and is usually white-yellow, yellow or sometimes a little yellow-brown.”
What should you do after pushing a point? Should you wipe with a tissue or let it dry?
“Clean the area with alcohol and leave the area alone, do not push it constantly. You may want to apply a cool compress to minimize redness and irritation or use a topical over-the-counter steroid to minimize redness and inflammation. “Usually, you know that a pimple is completely drained if no more pus can be expressed, so if you see some blood, stop squeezing it.”
“Once a pimple has erupted, be sure to keep the area clean and allow it to heal properly to avoid scarring. It will sting a little, but you can disinfect the area with alcohol after cracking.
Why does a clear liquid come out if you push too hard on a point?
“The clear liquid is just swelling – a fluid that accumulates in the area due to redness and swelling. It is not pus, and it is not an infection. “
What should I watch out for when I get pimples?
“If you have a red pimple that hurts to the touch and is deep under the skin, it is almost impossible for it to burst at that point. Usually, if the pimple does not have a head and is still under the skin, trying to remove it can not only be very painful, but can cause irritation and even infection that will make it difficult for the pimple to heal. “Even worse, if you actually injure the skin, you run the risk of scarring and this is likely to be permanent.”
What is the difference between a cyst and a pimple?
“It depends on what type of bladder we are talking about. There is the cystic form of acne, which is a more serious form of common acne, and this type of acne creates deeper, larger, more painful pimples under the skin that are more likely to cause scarring.
“The cysts you see me remove on my YouTube channel are more often other types of cysts, such as epidermal cysts, pylons, steatocysts. There are many types of cysts, and these are very different from pimples and each other.
“Cysts generally should not be compressed because tightening will not solve them, and in fact, it can actually cause many problems, such as inflammation, infection, scarring. “The cysts should be evaluated by your doctor and you will probably need a surgeon to remove them completely.”
Why do pimples appear in some places?
Pimples tend to appear on oily areas of the skin, which is why we usually see pimples in the “T zone”. “Hormones can also cause outbreaks in certain areas, which is why (for example) people with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome who have elevated levels of hormones (androgens) have more outbreaks in the ‘beard distribution’ of the face.”
Why do the points return to the same place?
“The pimple was probably never completely resolved. When we have changes in hormone levels on a monthly basis, an increase in hormones can cause increased oil production, increased risk of bacterial infection and re-irritation of this pimple.
“Sometimes these recurrent pimples are cystic and reappear because they never form a head to be removed. The pore is blocked below the surface of your skin and can enlarge and appear on the surface of your skin when your body produces more oil.
What can you do about pimples under the surface? How can you deal with them at home?
“Blisters and inflamed papules are white bumps with a red base and can often be painful to the touch. When you have blisters, it means that there is purulent contents, which means local infection βα bacteria are involved and contribute to the formation of this type of lump.
“To treat them at home, always make sure to follow the instructions on the product or according to the instructions of your dermatologist. It is important to take care of your skin and if you notice dryness or irritation, reduce the frequency with which you use the product.
“You can use acne products to treat current outbreaks AND prevent future outbreaks, so it is usually okay to continue using them even after acne has improved and some people may choose a spot treatment if they have specific areas that are more prone to acne and outbreaks. “
How do you get a pimple in your ear?
“I think the question is, rather, how DO NOT burst a flaw in your ear? First and foremost, I suggest you try to avoid cracking. Any area that you press on your skin definitely increases the risk of scarring and infection.
Plus, you can’t see your ear, so how do you properly extract any kind of bump? You need to have a fairly large arrangement of mirrors at different angles to do this with any sense of security.
My best advice is if you have a spot or growth on your ear that is particularly bothering you, visit a dermatologist to evaluate it.
How do you get a pimple on your lips?
Same as above. Sometimes what you think is a blemish on your lips can actually be something else, like a cold sore, also known as a simple cold sore. If it is a blister complex and you had a burning or pain sensation in the area a few days before it appeared, this could be a herpes outbreak and remember that a broken blister in this case can be contagious!
“If you suspect you may have an outbreak of herpes, ask your dermatologist to evaluate it – there are prescription drugs that can safely reduce the severity and duration of this outbreak.”
How can you get rid of a pimple that has no visible head?
“You can not crack a flaw that has not come to the surface of the skin successfully. Those moments when you can feel it more than you can see it, are the moments when you may want to see your dermatologist. Because they can actually inject a low-potency corticosteroid into the area, which can often cause the blemish to disappear within 24 hours.
I highly recommend NOT to choose your flaw as this often leads to it getting bigger. “The older and angrier he is, the greater the risk of infection and / or permanent scarring.”
What products do you suggest to apply to a spot that has already burst and then to one that has not burst?
“As many of us know, it is difficult to keep our hands away from active imperfections, so I recommend applying an anti-spot cream like Sulfur Lotion or even a plaster to remind you to keep your hands off. On a flaw that has burst, I suggest applying topical corticosteroids and a cold compress to minimize redness and irritation.
